Year of Jazz

We'll have an information table at the Year of Jazz festival on Oct. 23 from 2-7:30 pm at Brackenridge Park.

University United Methodist Church

We'll be at the University United Methodist Church (5084 DeZavala) on Sept. 25, 9am-1pm, for a community fair. Drop by our table and say hi!

Ferrari Center

We'll be at the Ferrari Center (107 W. Rampart) on Sept. 24 from 9am-1pm for their literacy fair. Come by and see us!

Dare to Read Returns

Our summer club members requested that we bring the Dare to Read Book Club back, and so we shall. In fact, we'll be offering two versions of the club: a beginning level club and an advanced level club. Both clubs will be meeting at the Ferrari Learning Center, 107 W. Rampart. The club meeting starts at noon and ends at 1 p.m. The books that the clubs will be reading are specially created for adults who are learning English.

The beginning level will meet on these dates: Sept. 6, Sept. 20, Oct. 4, Oct. 18, Nov. 1, Nov. 15, Dec. 6 and Dec. 20. The titles this club will read include The Wizard of Oz, The Phantom of the Opera, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Robinson Crusoe, and Dracula.

The advanced level club will meet on these dates: Sept. 13, Sept. 27, Oct. 11, Oct. 25, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13. The titles this club will read include The Call of the Wild, Frankenstein, Little Women, Treasure Island, and Wuthering Heights.

If you know an adult who is learning English or who is learning to read, please let him/her know about our clubs. New members are welcome at any time!
